April 2010
From the Pastor’s Perch
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Jesus,
Easter 2010 is here! Again we remember that the tomb could not hold Jesus Christ. The Risen Lord has conquered sin, death, and Satan! By personally trusting Christ and what he accomplished for us in his death and resurrection, we are forgiven our sins and born anew – to an unending relationship with our God and to the life he created us to live! He breaks the power of cancelled sin, he sets the prisoner free; his blood can make the foulest clean; his blood availed for me (Charles Wesley, “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing,” United Methodist Publishing House, Nashville, TN) UMH #57.
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death (Philippians 3:10 NIV).
April 22-25th I will be participating in Kairos Weekend #27 at Marion Correctional Institution. This is an ecumenical, lay led, Christian ministry to prisoners (Matthew 25:36; Hebrews 13:3). [In the last 30 years, Kairos has been ministering to almost 200,000 men and women in prisons throughout most of the United States as well as 5 other nations. Many lives have been changed by Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit as a result.]
Our Kairos team will be working with 42 incarcerated men. Please pray that once again we will see Jesus Christ permanently transform lives with his resurrection power.
